Colorado Springs, CO: This morning at the Property and Casualty Insurers Association of America, political analyst Charlie Cook stated of politicians, "If you're explaining, you're losing." Concerning the following subject matter, I am losing.
There are many agenda items that deserve attention on the side of the Democrats. As Cook said, "The Democrats are the party of compassion and the Republicans of competence." Seems like the two should meet somewhere. As the party of campassion, the minority, those unable to speak for themselves, it seems like they'd be the party of the unborn as well.
I am currently reading "Mein Kampf" with some friends. We're reading it to understand what lead millions to follow a man down the path of genocide without a second glance behind them. Just in the first two hundred pages of Hitler's struggle, one realizes he understood politics and religion very well and how to use them to one's advantage.
As Hitler wrote,
"The broad masses of a population are more amenable to the appeal of rhetoric than to any other force."
Those tactics are alive and well today.
Most people in the U.S. walk around completely unaware of what is happening around them. They are unaware of the hundreds of thousands killed in Darfur or Rwanda in the last decade. They are unaware of economics and could not make a case for capitalism or state one counter argument from the Communist Manifesto. Most Christians can't list four of the ten commandments that they claim are so important.
I find this frightening. Those who know little, think little, are easily persuaded by thin arguments. The lack of depth in the mind of the average American is clear just from watching 45 minutes of TV tonight.
The political ads here in Colorado, as everywhere else, are almost the only spots playing on TV in anticipation of Tuesday. In thirty seconds there are short soundbites from the opposing candidate that could easily be taken out of context. This is true of Democrats and Republicans alike. The ads make it clear that neither side plays fair, and people must be overwhelmingly ignorant.
What confuses me is how we with even short studies of Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Ze-Dong, Hideki Tojo, Ismail Enver, Pol Pot, and countless others miss genocide in the world today.
I cannot vote for a Democrat because I cannot get past this issue of abortion with most Dems to even get to the next issue. There are some issues that override all things, and the issue of life supersedes all others. I cannot understand how the great crusading Democrats are not also the voice of the silent.
If I said let's grab 200,000 5 year olds and execute them, almost everyone would go nuts and have me committed, yet the concept of abortion is some how different in the minds of most Americans.
The CDC stats report that since 1973 there have been over 30,000,000 abortions in the United States.
That was 30,000,000 people that were suppose to have had the opportunity to live a life like you and I.
For me, this issue has a face. My wife's.
My wife was born in 1971 to a 16 year old unwed mother. My wife grew up in small apartments, trailers and even lived in a shed once. Her supposed father left when she was one. Her mother could not hold a job. Her mother brought strange men to the house. My wife as a child was locked out of the house when her mother had these men over or when they were doing drugs. My wife was sexually abused by one of these men. For Christmas wife got things like a bar of soap, or a food item from the local HEB.
Danae's mother once told her outright, "If abortion had been legal I would have gotten an abortion and you wouldn't be here." My mother-in-law, had she of been given the opportunity for convenience, would have chose that over my wife's life.
Please understand, that my wife, the mother of my children, one of the joys of my journey, would have been snuffed out without thought if the option had been available. I don't know how you reconcile the option as anything other than murder.
Danae's life was difficult. She had to pull herself through the pitfalls before her. She put her faith in God at a young age, and trusted Him with the results.
She graduated from high school with a full paid scholarship. Went to college and graduated. Went to work in social work in the most difficult schools in Texas. Fought to protect children and families and give them hope. Is raising two creative, thinking and growing children. Homeschools those kids each day and ensure's they have a wealth of life experiences. Has taken her kids to three continents and over 15 countries.
If abortion had been legal in 1971, this fine woman would have been put to death and the life I know today would be completely different. Over 30,000,000 other Danae's were not so fortunate.
Abortion should be considered more than petty genocide in the modern day.
I cannot vote for a candidate that supports genocide. I can agree with Dems on a lot. I think we as a society have an obligation to care for the weak. I believe that every man should be free to live his life as he wishes, whether I agree with his lifestyle or not. I believe there are grey lines in our approaches to economics, but I cannot get to these discussions because there is too large an issue blocking the path.
I am not saying anything new. I have not said it better than others. And since I am explaining it, it is clear I am losing.
My wife just missed the gas chamber. She could have easily have been selected against and suffered the genocide of the "inconvenient".
You have been told that a women's body is her own. This is true. But a child's body is their own as well. They deserve a chance to struggle, an opportunity to rise above, and an opportunity to fail. You may have been sold a big lie. The lie that a growing baby is somehow something less than human. Please know that every unborn child has a face, a name, a design, and a purpose. Don't you sense these things in your life? What would make you different than them?
Look at your children. Can you imagine life without them? What if you had decided they were inconvenient? Please search for Truth. The truth is, abortion is nothing but modern, permissive genocide.
"The great masses of the people will more easily fall victim to a big lie than to a small one," Adolph Hitler
