I have a few fathers I want to say thanks to:
My Heavenly Father
In my walk through life I have seen my Heavenly Father in the beauty of the sunset and the complexity of science. I have also found His love for me true, and understand the reality of my condition. He saved me by grace yet while I was a sinner, and He refines me continuously and reveals Himself through His spirit, word, son, history, and others.
Don Owens II - My Dad
My Dad is a hard working man that introduced me to amazing things. He introduced me to faith, by his faithfulness. He introduced me to the outdoors by taking me camping, fishing, and hunting. He introduced me to the appreciation of different people by taking me to different parts of the country. He taught me a solid work ethic by example. And he taught me commitment through his commitment and love for my mom.
David Bertch - Spiritual Father
Dr. David Bertch has spent the last few years investing countless hours in me. He challenges me in my faith, study, relationships and work. He keeps me focused and has introduced me to the classics. He calls and checks on me. He has been a great friend and mentor. He is one of few old men that have ever been willing to spend so much time with others. He has taught me to seek.
Don Staton - Spiritual Father
Don passed away a number of years ago, but not before he had invested himself in me and numerous other men. He and his wife invested in my wife and I by just being in our lives. They taught us about love. They are responsible for the depth of love in our marriage. Don started as a Sunday School teacher of ours, and ended up being one of the great father figures of my life.
Al Boenker - Spiritual Father
Al has shown me kindness that is hard to explain. He, by word, and even more, by example has shown me the depth a man in business can achieve. He lives the example of a disciplined life. He is a risk taker, thinker, and leader. Being in his presence alone has made me not only a better businessman, but a better husband, father and friend. It is a pleasure to serve him.
Craig Hoffman - Spiritual Father
Mr. Hoffman was my 6th grade social studies teacher, and he also lead Campus Life. He was the first gentlemen to invest in a dweeby misfit as I was at the time. I am grateful for his three years of investment in me and many other young people. He taught me how to be a servant leader.
I am thankful for the investments, sacrifice and time of these fathers, and for the greatness of our God.
Happy Father's Day.
