This week I am sharing about some of the most influential men in my life.
The best way to describe Elton Trueblood is, "Prophetic".
Trueblood wrote the book "The Company of The Committed" in 1954 and it remains relative today, in that he cited what must change in the Christian Church in order for it to impact the world. Unfortunately, denominations have not read or listened to the words of this Quaker and the church is now in an even more devastating position in the U.S. and Europe.
Trueblood saved me for being a pew sitting kool-aid drinker and demanded I speak out and take action against bad thinking, poor programs and business as usual. He also lead me to ecumenical thought and action. His love for Christ and the body of believers that are His church is evident in his lectures that can be found in the book, "The Yoke of Christ".
He calls us to committed action and his words ring in my ears daily. I thank God for the life and commitment of Dr. Elton Trueblood.
