“To him, even the momentary was momentous, ” wrote G.K Chesterton of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
Aquinas was unmatched in his ability to place scripture and reality into an understandable format. He resurrected the works of Aristotle and elevated the validity of Aristotle's works in the light of Jesus Christ.
Aquinas gave us The Summa Theologica at a time when Summas were appearing on a wealth of topics. He correlated and preserved the truths of our faith for the common man. Protestants have forgotten him, but thankfully the Catholic Church still reveres him. He is my favorite saint.
From a small room not far from Notre Dame in Paris he read and wrote. We should read and teach from his Summa as it will affirm our faith. Aquinas gives us the intellectual iron to secure our heartfelt faith.
“Sorrow can be alleviated by good sleep, a bath and a glass of wine.” – Thomas Aquinas
